To me, using the internet should be an interesting experience where users can access, learn, educate and share important (valuable) information. What we mostly see is, to some extent, the exact opposite. There are a lot of useless information counting from false rumors to immoral media best to describe as pornography.
There are also cases where some desperate "onliners" use their knowledge in Information Technology to get what they want at the expense of others, usually those with little or no experience at all in the field of internet usage, the effects being catastrophic.
What about needless sharing of information? Some internet users just forward any information (most of which are false or unconfirmed rumors) to anybody on their contact list (or their online social connectors) usually following the tradition of spreading false rumors to degrade or tarnish the reputation of public figures and companies.
My experience in Information and Communication Technology will be useless, from my point of view, if I don't do my best to address some of such internet related problems. One of the ways to address the mentioned negative issues is "Public Education", be it online or offline.
